Everyone has their own recipe for avocado toast, so here is mine. I absolutely adore the combination of the sweet honey, the slightly spicy kick from the chili flakes, and the smokey saltiness of the fried cheese. It also keeps you full for a long time because I made sure to balance the ratio of carbohydrates, healthy fats, and protein.
Recipe
Yields 1 serving
Ingredients
1 slice of bread
Half an avocado
Olive oil
1 egg
¼ cup edam or parmesan cheese, grated
Salt, to taste
Pepper, to taste
Chili flakes
Dried herbs
Honey
Procedure
Slice the avocado.
Use a ring cookie cutter or glass to cut a hole in the slice of bread.
On a pan, drizzle some olive oil.
Place the bread in the pan and crack the egg into the hole on the bread. Season the egg with salt and pepper
Cover the pan and cook the egg according to your preference, then transfer the toast to a plate.
In the same pan, sprinkle the cheese onto the pan. Once the cheese on the edge begins to crisp and lift, flip the cheese and let it cook for a few more seconds.
To assemble, place the sliced avocado on top of the toast, and sprinkle some salt, chili flakes, and herbs. Drizzle some honey, and finally top with the cheese crisp.
