Blueberry Cream Cheese Danish

Many people excitedly anticipate the new adventures they will be able to experience and attractions or unique traditions they will witness when they go on vacation. However, my favorite part is the free breakfast buffet that goes with the hotel room. You will most likely find me in the bread and pastry section filling up my plate with various croissants, muffins, and danishes. Since my mom had extra puff pastry, I whipped up a homemade version to enjoy and bring myself back to those mornings filled with wonder, sugar, and butter!

Recipe

Yields 10 servings

Ingredients

10 puff pastry squares (4”x4”)

225 grams cream cheese

50 grams sugar

1 egg

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 teaspoon lemon juice

½ cup blueberry filling

Procedure

  • Preheat the oven to 425°F.

  • Make the cream cheese filling by mixing cream cheese, sugar, one egg yolk, vanilla, and lemon juice until smooth.

  • Begin shaping the puff pastry using your desired method. I used this video on YouTube as a guide.

  • Scoop 1 tablespoon of cream cheese and ½ a teaspoon of blueberry filling on each puff pastry.

  • Place these on a lined baking tray and let them rest in the refrigerator for 10 minutes.

  • Brush each pastry with the egg white.

  • Bake them for 20 minutes.

  • Let them cool down, serve, and enjoy!
