Matcha goes with everything. I have seen every classic dessert matcha-fied, and they all look bloody scrumptious. So, when I needed to quickly whip up a treat to bring for a short trip, I decided to throw some matcha powder into my go-to dessert for such occasions, brownies. Aside from the vibrant natural green color matcha brings to this recipe, its earthy bitterness also perfectly offsets the sweetness of the brownie base. Needless to say, these bite-sized fudgey squares immediately became a favorite.
Recipe
Yields 16 servings
Ingredients
½ cup or 110 grams unsalted butter
120 grams white chocolate
2 tablespoons matcha powder
½ cup 100 grams white sugar
¾ cup or 150 grams brown sugar
¼ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon baking powder
3 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup or 120 grams all-purpose flour
70 grams chocolate chunks or chips
Procedure
Preheat the oven to 350℉.
Brown the butter and cool it down a little.
Pour the butter on top of the white chocolate and slowly mix these two until the chocolate is fully melted.
Mix the matcha in the melted white chocolate and set this aside.
In another bowl beat the sugar, and eggs together until fluffy.
Fold the egg mixture into the matcha and white chocolate.
Add the salt, baking powder, vanilla, and chocolate chunks into the batter.
In an 8” x 8” lined baking pan, pour the batter and spread it out evenly.
Bake for 25-30 minutes.
Let it cool for a while, cut into 16 squares, and enjoy!
