Chocolate Tiramisu

You have probably encountered this in a small cup on a buffet’s dessert spread. It is hassle-free, affordable, and easy to store, which is why many chain restaurants and large buffets choose to carry this product on their menus. However, some of the ones I have tried are incomparable to the ones I make at home. Despite the procedure being so effortless that it may even be as easy as ordering it from an establishment, the outcome provides you with an incredible and refined iconic Italian dessert. Traditionally consisting of layers of ladyfingers, coffee, and cream, the tiramisu will never fail to entice its fans to tuck in. This one, however, is made with chocolate to make it more child-friendly, or in my case, to give them as gifts to my already over-caffeinated friends.

Recipe

Yields 18-20 servings

Ingredients

2 ½ cups or 625 grams all-purpose cream, chilled

1 ½ cups or 335 grams cream cheese

1 cup or 200 grams sugar

1 cup or 140 grams semi-sweet chocolate

2 cups chocolate drink or milk

50-60 ladyfingers

30 grams cocoa powder for dusting

Procedure

  • Put the chocolate and ½ cup all-purpose cream in a heat-safe bowl, and place this on top of a saucepan with boiling water to create a makeshift Bain-marie or double boiler. Wait until all the chocolate is melted.

  • Whip together, all-purpose cream, cream cheese, and sugar in another bowl while waiting for the chocolate ganache to slightly cool down.

  • Fold the chocolate ganache in the cream.

  • Dip the ladyfingers into the chocolate drink and place them at the bottom of your chosen container (preferably an 8” x 8” pan). Make sure that the drink is cold.

  • Spread the whipped chocolate cream cheese on top of the first layer of ladyfingers.

  • Repeat the 2 previous steps one more time and add a final layer of whipped chocolate cream cheese on top.

  • Dust it with cocoa powder and freeze for 1-2 hours before serving.

  • Enjoy!
