Honey Lime Chicken Wings

Chicken wings are one of the most fail-safe dishes to prepare and share with loved ones. Nothing surpasses extra crispy chicken wings that are bursting with sweet and citrusy flavors. Wiping out the entire serving of wings is effortless, for each bite of the juicy chicken wing smothered with a sticky glaze that will leave your fingers messy in the best way possible will make you want to tuck back in for more. So equip yourselves with the necessary weapons--gloves and tissue paper--and conquer the whole platter of honey lime chicken wings together.


Recipe

Yields 8-10 servings

~ Ingredients ~

Honey Lime Glaze

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

8 cloves garlic, minced

3 tablespoons ginger, grated

6 tablespoons soy sauce

12 tablespoons honey

6 tablespoons lime juice

Zest from 2 limes

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon ground black pepper

1 teaspoon cornstarch in 1 tablespoon water

Chopped cilantro for garnish


*Optional:

2 teaspoons dried chili flakes

1 tablespoon sriracha


Fried Chicken Wings

1 kilogram chicken wings

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup ting flour (wheat starch)

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon pepper

3 egg whites

Oil for frying


~ Procedure ~

Honey Lime Glaze

  • In a medium saucepan on medium heat, sauté the ginger and garlic in oil until a little golden.

  • Combine the rest of the ingredients in the sauce.

  • Let it simmer for 3-5 minutes until the sauce has slightly thickened. Stir and scrape the sauce once in a while to prevent the honey from burning.


Fried Chicken Wings

  • In a deep frying pan, heat the oil until it has reached 350°F.

  • Prepare the breading by mixing the flours, baking powder, salt and pepper together.

  • Coat the chicken wings in the egg white and season with salt.

  • Dip the chicken wings in the breading and carefully place them in the oil.

  • Fry them for 8-10 minutes then place them on a cooling rack or a plate with tissues on it to absorb all the excess oil.

  • Coat them with the glaze and garnish with chopped cilantro.

  • Serve with slices of lime and enjoy!
