I noticed that I published so few Chinese recipes because a lot of the ones I know how to make are time-consuming. These past weeks have been extremely stressful, so to get back into the kitchen, I decided to cook and share one of my family’s favorite Chinese specials. I cannot emphasize enough how easy this recipe is to follow. This particular spareribs dish is ideal for those who want to enjoy comfort food at the end of a hectic day without the additional hectic fuss of preparing a full meal. This recipe only requires mixing and steaming. While waiting for the marinade to seep into the meat and for the pork to finish steaming, you can do whatever else you need to accomplish.
Recipe
Yields 8-10 servings
Ingredients
1 kilogram pork spareribs or rib shoulder, chopped into 1-2 inch pieces
¼ cup or 60 mL soy sauce
1 bulb garlic, minced
2 teaspoons pepper
2 tablespoons Chinese wine
¼ cup or 30 grams cornstarch
75 grams black beans
1 tablespoon sesame oil
1 tablespoon spring onion or leeks
Procedure
Marinate the pork in soy sauce, Chinese wine, garlic, and pepper for at least 30 minutes.
Once done, coat the marinated pork in cornstarch.
Add the black beans to the pork.
Drizzle the sesame oil on top then steam until the pork is tender. This took around 45 minutes.
Serve alongside rice and chili oil. Enjoy!
